CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Libby begged to go with me this morning. I had to look away when I left. She was laying it on thick. But I didn’t want her distracting the detector dog searching the woods for a rock that could have blood evidence on it.

“Sorry girl. You’ll have to stay and hang around with Todd this morning.”

A text came in from Doc. He told me about the detector dog being at the site and he hoped I could be there. That was nice of him, and I had to admit I wanted to be involved because my friend was murdered.

Todd reached to scratch Libby behind her ears saying, “Me and you today, Libby. Where are you off to JP?”

“Back out to the murder scene. They are bringing in a detector dog to sniff around.”

“A bloodhound? Take some photos for me, will you?”

“I’m not sure if it’s a bloodhound, but I’ll text you a photo.”

“When I flew out to visit Alli in Los Angeles, I saw dogs in the airport,” Todd said. “Probably bomb sniffing ones. Or maybe drug sniffing? I thought your friend’s death was a just a tragic accident.”

“We all did. But Doc Potter discovered the wound that killed him matched nothing near where the body was found.”

“Maybe he hit his head and then crawled away before dying?”

“There’s no evidence showing that. Jeff hopes the dog will find the murder weapon today.”

“Wow. That’s interesting. Hope he does too.”

“Todd, have you heard when Alli’s movie is premiering?” My niece Alli Turner directed the movie based on her mother’s memoir, Becoming Beverly. My half-sister, the famous soap opera actress Beverly Turner, was the producer. While the movie production crew was in Harmony to film scenes, Todd and Alli struck up a friendship and I was glad he went to visit her.

“No, I haven’t,” Todd said. “But Alli is working hard to make it happen.”
